Apple Blocks Wirelurker Malware For iOS

Following our report yesterday, Apple claim that they have blocked Wirelurker, which is a new malware affecting iOS devices. Apple says that it is “aware of malicious software available from a download site aimed at users in China, and we’ve blocked the identified apps to prevent them from launching.”

Apple did not explain how it has managed to ensure the effective blocking, but they did say that “as always, we recommend that users download and install software from trusted sources”.

Wirelurker Virus

There was further virus news for Apple this week when another vulnerability that is called Rootpipe was revealed and as yet it has not been blocked. The person who discovered it says he is still waiting for Apple to issue a patch to resolve the issue which could potentially be very serious..
