Budget Smartphone Demand Increases
In an age where it seems that the smartphone world is a simple battle between Apple and Samsung there is actually a whole different world going on in the budget smartphone market. That are brands of smartphone that many of you may not even have heard of as the budget smartphone battle continues, mainly in Asia…..but it is spreading!
Demand for budget smartphones is increasing. Around 1/3 of smartphones sales in America between the months of July and September cost less than $200 (about £125), which is up 18% from 12 months ago. A high end phone costs $600 (about £380) to $700 (about £445) if paying for one outside a contract.
The thing is budget smartphones are not what they used to be. They are decent devices that most users would be thrilled with. Remember the costs of parts are dropping and whereas some of the big names are not necessarily passing on the price drop in order to retain the brand’s reputation as a high end product manufacturer, there are others that are using this to their advantage to create decent quality low end smartphones.
They may not have fancy features such as fingerprint security sensors and the cameras are not as good but the technology is more than adequate for those who just want to check email, look up sports scores and play video games.
