Paul Shin Devine was a well regards executive at Apple but he has been jailed for 12 months after making millions selling secret information about the company to its suppliers. He has also been ordered to repay almost $4.5m (about £2.8m) of the money that he made from it. Some of Apple’s Manufacturers paid him for information on Apple products and other details in order to help them better negotiate on deals. He has been sentenced in California over 3 years after his original guilty plea.
He was the global supply manager for the company between 2005 and 2010. Apparently his kickback scheme started in 2007 and he set up a shell company named CPK Engineering which he used to launder the money that he had received from the suppliers in order to put them in a very strong negotiating position.
