All of us have this experience of getting annoyed in a waiting queue whenever we dial those Special numbers start with 0800, 0808, 0807 etc. The long wait means more money going out of our pockets as these special numbers charges are more than normal. However according to new rules of Ofcom, 0800 and 0808 number are totally free when dialled from a mobile phone. The problem with the charges on these numbers was that mostly it was unclear that how much it is costing. 0800 and 0808 were already free from a landline. However there is an access charge on these numbers which will set up by telecom companies and they will have to make it clear to customers how much it would be. Ofcom chief executive Sharon White said: “UK Calling is the biggest change to telephone calls in over a decade. Together we spend around £900 million a year calling service numbers, so it’s important that people understand the cost before they pick up the phone. Callers will be able to see what they’re paying and where their money is going.”
