Google To Acquire Softcard Mobile Payments Company

Are Google To Acquire Softcard? Well they quite possibly are if rumours are to be believed. Apparently Google are in talks to acquire the mobile payments company. Softcard are though apparently in the sights of several suitors so Google may not have it all their own way. Google are allegedly interested in buying the small payments group for about $100 million (about £66 million)

SoftCard

It is possible that a sale of Softcard to a major organisation such as Google could signal what some analysts have been predicting would be a shake out among mobile payment services as Apple’s mobile payment solution Apple Pay forces other big hitters to rethink their positions.

Apple will most likely soon be dominating this area after it recently released the Apple Pay service in the US. It will be down to competitors to ensure that they have a service equal to or better than Apple Pay before they control yet another market. Let’s face it most of what Apple do is first class and it will take a decent effort to match them in another emerging market.
