Google Glass Has Been Discontinued For Now

Well we have written about Google Glass on a few occasions and it was a little surprising to hear that Google Glass Has Been Discontinued with effect from January 19th. However it is in order for the product to be improved and redesigned before being relaunched. Wearable Technology has become big business in the last 12 months and Google will want to be getting the new improved version back on the shelves as soon as possible.

The Google Explorer programme was launched in America back in 2013 and arrived in the UK in June last year. Under the plan, Google’s Glass team will move out of the Google X division and become a separate entity.

Google recently likened the Explorer edition of Glass to an infant learning to walk and said:  “Well, we still have some work to do, but now we’re ready to put on our big kid shoes and learn how to run.” The device costs £1000 and is available in 5 different colours. There has been concerns over the privacy and safety that the product brings and John Simpson of Consumer watchdog said: “It is a perfect stalker’s tool. It’s difficult to see how they solve that.”
