Google’s Search Dominance Is On The Slide

According to recent research by StatCounter, Google’s search dominance is on the slide. The company’s dominance of the search engine market is being significantly reduced as the likes of Bing and yahoo flourish and Google’s share of the search engine market sliding more than it has since 2009. Yahoo has gained its highest share for 5 years but Microsoft’s Bing is still more popular than Yahoo and has a 12.5% share of the market.

Of course Google is still a giant and still has a very large slice of the market. 77.3% of searches in November were done so through Google search so they won’t be overly concerned just yet. The following month did see a slight drop to 75.2% which is actually the lowest share they have had since StatCounter began their search statistics way back in July 2008.

StatCounter’s CEO Aodhan Cullen recently said: “The move by Mozilla has had a definite impact on US search. The question now is whether Firefox users switch back to Google.”
