Microsoft Windows 10 Will Be Free For 12 Months

There was some history making news on Wednesday when it was announced that Microsoft Windows 10 Will Be Free For 12 Months. This will be the first free version of the company’s Windows operating system. They revealed Windows 10 at an event in Washington. This was the first update in 2 years for the operating system.  They also announced that it would be a free upgrade for users of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and WindowsPhone for the first 12 months.

No specific release date has been announced by Microsoft yet but we expect it to be late in 2015. Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO said: “Today’s a big day. A big day for Windows. What it means to our customers, our partners and Microsoft. We want to move from people needing Windows to people loving Windows.”

The company’s Terry Myerson added: “Windows has always been grounded in the idea that technology should help individuals and organizations do great things,” said Microsoft executive vice president of operating systems . He said the system would “support the broadest device family ever”

Nadella also added “We are going to have services everywhere. We are not bolting on apps, we are seamlessly harmonizing experiences,” said Nadella. ”We are going to have our services and their endpoints everywhere. But we believe Windows is home for the very best of Microsoft experiences. We want to make Windows 10 the most loved release of Windows.”
