Punkt MP01 Mobile Phone will take you back in good old days
Punkt; a Swiss technology brand has recently launched a basic mobile handset called ‘MP01’ designed by British designer Jasper Morrison. Petter Neby, founder of Punkt says,
“I think the always on life is probably even worse than having a poor diet. Every day we are consuming more trash and becoming more detached from real life and the ability to deal with situations head-on. Just look around, it’s a disaster and the sociological issue of our times.”
Gold Genie believes technology is important in today’s life, but it changes that quick that it becomes too hard to run with it, you end up getting tired and want to rediscover a simple thing. Punkt is aiming to produce a device that is free from distraction and stripped back, which can do simple things like calls, texts, setting reminder, alarms; and that’s really about it.
Neby says, “My smartphone is my office but when I come back in the evening my office hours need to stop and so I switch it off.” If he wants to make a call in the late hours, there wouldn’t be any notifications appearing on the screen distracting and tempting him away from his core focus. MP01 will help you when you are on holidays and want to relax.
MP01 is a pared down black affair with slightly raised, rounded buttons and a gently angled shape that makes it easy to hold. It has a battery life of 290 minutes talk time and 670 hours for standby. The phone can be connected to cars and headsets via Bluetooth and can also be backed up with a PC or Mac to save contacts. There is a wide selection of ringtones which include bird sounds. Punkt has put an emphasis on longevity, constructing the MP 01 from materials selected for their durability, including damage resistant Gorilla Glass. The cost of the handy phone set is £229. The phone is currently just available in black, but two more colour options are set to follow in 2016.
