Rite Aid Pharmacy Latest To Stop Taking Apple Pay In USA

Pharmacy chain Rite Aid Corp are to stop taking Apple Pay in its 4,572 stores as it has committed to joining a consortium of other big name retailers that are developing their own payment system. American companies including massive names such as Wal-Mart and Target have all refused to accept Apple Pay in their shops.

As we reported yesterday the rival system which is called Current C currently being developed but it is believed that it is far inferior to the Apple system which simply requires the user to wave their iPhone in front of the payment device, whereas the rival system needs the user to open an app and point the camera at the payment device. It will certainly be interesting to see how this develops.
