Many of us must have experienced the greeting from an Immigration Officer at Airports while entering or leaving a country. All those smiley greetings and human interactions could be the thing of the past if new Airport Technology unveiled at Paris Air Show will be adopted in which Robots will replace Immigration Officers.

Paris Air Show is the world’s top showcase for the aerospace industry and has approximately 2000 exhibitors. The French Company Thales presented this concept at the show this week in which the entire passport database and images would already be in the system and instead an Immigration officer, A Tall White Robot would scan passports, Boarding Passes and Passengers’ photos to confirm their identity. As the maker of biometric passports and ID Cards, Thales is hoping to expand this idea to 25 countries. Pascal Zenoni, Thales Manager said, “You would only need one agent for every four or five machines. These systems can free up staff for the police and create more space in the airport,”
