Samsung Budget Smartphone To Rival Xiaomi
Samsung have been hit hard in certain areas recently and news is that there will be a Samsung Budget Smartphone To Rival Xiaomi. They are preparing to launch a low cost Tizen powered device that will be in the $100 (about £65) price range in order to compete in the budget smartphone market as companies like Xiaomi continue to grab more and more of the market share. The Samsung budget phone will be released in India towards the end of January.
Tizen is Samsung’s own operating system that intends to lessen the use of Google’s Android on their devices. Most of their mobile devices use Android as a platform but Tizen has been used to power some of its wearable technology, including its first smartwatch products. Samsung were intending to release the low cost device earlier in 2014, but decided to delay the launch in order to improve the Tizen operating system.
The company’s Tom Kang said “Samsung is targeting first-time smartphone users in India, where there are still many feature phone users. If they want to test the waters with this low-cost Tizen phone, they need to do it sooner rather than later.
