Sony To Release New Smartphone Camera Sensor

Sony are developing a brand new smartphone camera sensor consisting of a hugely improved autofocus and also much better HDR capabilities. Sony are claiming that this is the first smartphone camera sensor that has “image plane phase detection autofocus system”. This system is designed to improve the focus tracking for fast moving objects. The sensors enables up to 192 phase-detection which is a massive increases on standard smartphone cameras.

The HDR capabilities are also so much better with this camera, Sony say that this camera will be available in April 2015, so it is highly possible that some smartphones will have this technology come the summer of next year.
