Sony Smart Glasses Become Available to Pre-Order
Shortly after Google Glass took an exit stage left back to the drawing board, Sony have entered the Glass stage with their own beta version of smart eyeware. The SmartEyeglass Developer Edition went on pre-order today for U.K. and German residents and as the name would suggest are primarily aimed at developers to work on apps for the glasses.
The Android-ready Smartglasses, which give an augmented reality perspective through 419 x 138 resolution lenses, include GPS instructions, instant messaging, and photo sharing features and a remote control to answer and make calls easily.
The glasses are equipped with motion and brightness sensors, a microphone and a three-megapixel camera and the handheld controller connects to the glasses via cable but pairs wirelessly with a smartphone. The glasses will be available to purchase for £620 in March and no doubt, will appeal to professionals who want to take on a more technological perspective.
