Tablet Market On The Decline

Some interesting news is that the tablet market has it appears come to a halt as sales have declined rapidly. It is not exactly breaking news that the iPad has been in a bit of strife for some time and Apple have shown in their last 3 earnings reports that iPad sales have been down on stats from the year before. We are now hearing that it is expected that 2014 will be the first full year that will see iPad sales down 12% from 2013.

Tablets On Decline

It is being predicted that In 2018 overall iPad sales will be only 70 million, barely ahead of 2014’s predicted sales of 65 million and also the overall tablet market will show a compound annual growth rate of only 5.4% between now and 2018. Android tablets will be hit a similar slowdown, growing at a compound rate of about 6% per year, to about 183 million.

Of course predictions 4 years into the future are always very difficult to get correct and can often look quite foolish later on, but these do look quite sensible based on current purchasing trends. Apple, Samsung and all tablet manufacturers will need to do something to convince customers to buy a tablet instead of a PC in order to stop the slump.
