The President Takes to Twitter
With the increasing popularity of social media such as Facebook and Twitter, even the President of United States, Barack Obama couldn’t resist the temptation and finally got his own personal Twitter account with the name of @POTUS (President of the United States).
His first Tweet was, “Hello, Twitter! It’s Barack. Really! Six years in, they’re finally giving me my own account’’.
Just to be clear, this isn’t the first ever Twitter account President Obama has had but this is the first ever personal account of the President. This personal Twitter account will give the President the chance to keep in touch with people more efficiently and know their issues. The President describes himself as a Dad, Husband and 44th President of United States on his profile. Currently, he is following 65 people including his wife Michelle Obama. Former president of United States Mr Bill Clinton, responded to Mr Obama’s tweet, “Welcome to @Twitter, @POTUS! One question; Does that username stay with the office? #askingforafriend.” For which Mr Obama tweeted back, “Good question, @billclinton. The handle comes with the house. Know anyone interested in @FLOTUS?”
Mr Obama has a following of 1.9 million no doubt it will continue to grow fast.
